What does the condenser do?
The refrigerant carries heat out of the cabinet, and the condenser (a coil that releases that heat into the room) sheds it, with a fan pushing air across. Smother the coil or stop the fan and the heat stays put: both compartments warm, and the unit runs longer trying to catch up.
What may an owner clean?
The outer face of the grille, with a vacuum brush, after switching the unit off at its power switch or the breaker, as Viking’s guide asks before cleaning.
